Is SAW Right for You?
A few questions. A clear answer.
SAW isn't right for everyone, and that's the point of checking first. A standard walker, a rollator, or a cane can't get someone safely up and down stairs. SAW can, used with a trained caregiver and a handrailing. See if the patient, the caregiver, and your stairs are a fit before you spend a dollar.

What makes a fit
The patient
Can stand from a chair with or without some help
Between 5 feet 2 inches and 6 feet tall
Under 300 pounds
The full check covers a few more patient criteria.
The caregiver
Becomes a SAW Certified™ Caregiver first. The certification takes about 30 minutes
Someone is there to help on the stairs every time: a spouse, an adult child, a friend, a neighbor, or a professional
Can lift 35 pounds, is independently mobile, and doesn't use a walker or cane themselves
A caregiver is required for stair use. If your first choice can't take it on, we can help you find one.
Your stairs
Most standard residential stairs work. A 6 to 9 inch rise and a 9.5 inch run or deeper
At least one handrail on the staircase is required. Carpet is fine
Does not fit: spiral, narrow, or unusually steep stairs.
Measure yours with a tape measure, or the full check walks you through it.
